About Us

Coffee has always been an important part of Nicole Grant’s life. Growing up, it was one of the simple pleasures her mom and grandmother shared with and passed on to her. These two strong women, who showed by example just how resilient and productive a woman of color could be even in a world that actively resisted them, were also the inspiration behind Catherine’s Coffee, named for both women.

Started in 2022 by Nicole herself, Catherine’s Coffee Company is a product of her passion, backed up heavily by her extensive experience as a chef in the culinary industry. After a long and accomplished career, Nicole decided to strike out on her own to engage in new challenges and serve others in a more direct way. She brought with her a deep understanding of the importance of freshness and high-quality play in the industry. 

Coffee has always been near and dear to her heart, and the idea to create a platform through which she can not only provide high quality coffee to the general audience, but also express her ideals, experiences and hopes for the future. 

As a person of color with a vested interest in social change and environmental justice, there are several things that make Nicole and her business different. One of these qualities is a dedication to sustainable production, even in her own small enterprise. As such, all the coffee served is made from sustainably sourced beans from various parts of the world. 

This varied and intentional selection of sources ensuring that the entire product line is run with humane working conditions and equitable pay, as well as conservative farming practices that prevent over farming and excess pollution. In addition to ensuring that you are served the best quality coffee you have ever had, you can be rest assured that shopping with us, means you are doing your part to help save the planet. 

Our company is not solely all about profit, but people as well. We believe in giving a voice to people of all races, creating an environment devoid of toxicity or comparison where anyone from any part of the world can safely enjoy their favorite cup of coffee. In our quest to improve social interactions between people, the interior of our coffee shop is designed with a customer friendly sitting area that encourages networking amongst willing clients.

Coffee culture has seldom been associated with black people. Although our customers extend to all genders and race, our primary target market are women of color. We seek to a build a community of black coffee lovers and improve the concept of coffee culture by focusing on building our customer base, especially women. Our company stands out in our drive for inclusion and diversity in the coffee industry.

Our expansion process has required a combination of social and practical skills, experience and utilization of technology. Through excellent customer service and quality coffee delivery, we are effectively working towards becoming a community household name.
